This June, ECT will take this discussion further in a technical webinar focused on the practical application of IoT in industrial condition monitoring and maintenance engineering. ECT encourages engineering and industry professionals, as well as students to join the online session on 25th June 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (UK time), to explore how IoT is shaping the future of intelligent industrial monitoring and maintenance engineering.

Core IoT Concepts

The Internet of Things (IoT) plays a key role in smarter industrial operations by allowing machines and software systems to share real-time data. It helps engineering professionals monitor equipment performance and detect potential issues early by tracking vibration, temperature, and machine loads. Behind this capability are core IoT concepts such as sensor-based data acquisition and machine-to-machine communication that enable continuous system connectivity. These then form a layered digital ecosystem wherein raw machine data is transformed into maintenance decisions.

However, in many industrial environments, particularly among SMEs (Small & Medium Entreprises), such monitoring capabilities are still limited. This makes IoT integration both a practical challenge and an important area that needs to be developed. This is exactly what the upcoming session will be addressed.
