Student Support for Success

ECT takes student support very seriously. Our friendly Course Advisors are available at the very beginning and then hand students over to their Learning Support Officers and teaching staff who are there for the entirety of the learning journey. We believe this support – especially for online students – is critical; it ensures students remain engaged throughout their studies and ultimately graduate successfully.

Learning Support Officers (LSOs)

We have found that many students need support, encouragement, and a non-academic go-to person to thrive during their studies. Our dedicated LSOs give students a greater chance of success. Students who enrol in the professional certificates have the same LSO for the duration of a programme, and students who enrol in a degree have a committed LSO for each module of study.

Academic Support

ECT lecturers are available for academic assistance during the live webinars and via email outside of class. Our class sizes are kept small to allow students to build rapports with their teachers and fellow students, to seek and receive clarity when necessary, and to discuss concepts.

Tech Support

Technical support is available for a range of issues, from password renewals, to handling glitches with the remote and virtual labs and with other online learning tools. The LSOs, however, offer guidance and remain the key point of contact when assistance is required.

Induction

Workshops can be organised online for groups of students who require them. Topics that can be covered include:

Personal Health and Wellbeing
Careers & Employment
Assessment & Test Preparation

We provide a detailed induction for our degree programmes via our live and interactive online webinar platform, Big Blue Button. These sessions allow students to become familiar with ECT’s learning environment, including programme structures, weekly study commitments, assessment schedules and attendance expectations. The learning management system and the services available to students are also covered. And orientation gives students the opportunity to connect with fellow learners online.
