For entry into all ECT course, you will need to demonstrate a suitable level of English language proficiency.  
There are several ways to meet our English language requirements:

If you are a national of or have a obtained a higher education level qualification from a country rated as a majority English speaking country by the UKVI:

We can also accept if you have been continuously employed in one of these countries for a minimum of five years immediately prior to the start of your course with us, providing you are able to supply a reference from your current employer which explicitly confirms you are able to communicate effectively in English. 

English language test score requirements for our bachelor’s degree programmes:

  • Academic IELTS/IELTS Online/UKVI IELTS. 6.0 overall, with no element below 5.5. 
  • TOEFL iBT: 80 overall, with minimum scores of listening 17, writing 19, reading 18 and speaking 20. TOEFL Home Edition not accepted 
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 60 overall, with no component below 59
  • C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Scores of 169 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
  • C2 Proficiency (formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Scores of 180 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking 

English language test score requirements for our master’s degree programmes:

  • Academic IELTS/IELTS Online/UKVI IELTS. 6.5 overall, with no element below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 90 overall, with no subtest below 20. TOEFL Home Edition not accepted
  • Pearson PTE Academic: 70 overall, with no component below 65
  • C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): Scores of 176 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking
  • C2 Proficiency (formerly known as Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Scores of 180 and above, with 162 or above in Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking 

We also accept a number of qualifications as suitable proof of English language proficiency: 

  • GCSE English/IGCSE English: Grade C/4, with a pass in Speaking if this component is reported separately. We do not accept English Literature.
  • Successful completion of a recognised foundation or pre-Masters course.
  • International Baccalaureate English: Standard Level Grade 5/Higher Level Grade 4
  • Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate (post-1998): Three (III) at General Proficiency level 
  • WAEC English: Grade C6
