Modern manufacturing doesn’t run on machines alone; it runs on data. And at the heart of every data-driven production line is a sensor. From the simplest limit switch to sophisticated rotary encoders, sensors are the nervous system of the smart factory, continuously translating the physical world into the electrical signals that keep automated systems running.

In this webinar, we take a structured, hands-on journey through the full landscape of industrial sensing technology. We’ll begin by establishing the foundational distinction between sensors, transducers, and switches, understanding not just what they do, but how they fit into the broader control loop. We will explore the major families of sensors used on the factory floor ranging from mechanical switches, proximity sensors, photocell sensors, temperature measurement devices including thermocouples and RTDs, ultrasonic rangefinders, and rotary and linear encoders.

Key takeaways from this webinar:

  • Sensors power smart factories by turning physical conditions into actionable data for automation and control.
  • Different sensing technologies serve different purposes, from detecting presence and position to measuring temperature and distance.
  • Choosing the right sensor is critical for improving efficiency, accuracy, and reliability on the factory floor.
