Dr Walid Issa BEng, MSc, PhD, FHEA, SMIEEE
Dr Walid Issa received his PhD in Renewable Energy from University of Exeter, 2015. Dr. Walid worked as Research Fellow for 2 years at the same university on a funded-EPSRC project – RESCUES (EP/K03619X/1) to contribute into developing control strategies for microgrid systems. Dr. Walid joined Sheffield Hallam in 2016 as a Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering then a led the MEng/BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering course from 2017 – 2021. Now he is Associate Professor in Power Electronics. His main research interests include power electronics, digital control, DC/AC and DC/DC converters and their applications microgrids, EV and smart buildings. He published over 55 papers and received over 1500 citations [Google Scholar]. His patent has been published [App. No. 2115166.7] that will drive new commercial products toward driving series Silicon Carbide (SiC) MOSFETs for high voltage applications. He supervised 9 PhD students, 5 of them are complete and 4 are in progress.
