Technical expertise has always been at the heart of engineering, but is it enough in today’s workplace?

As engineering projects become increasingly complex and multidisciplinary, the expectations placed on engineering professionals continue to evolve. Alongside traditional discipline-specific knowledge, employers may also look for a broader combination of skills and capabilities than many people realise.

Drawing on findings from the Engineering Institute of Technology’s (EIT) Engineering Skills & Job Insights 2025 Report and other sources, this webinar explores what more than 316,000 engineering and technology job advertisements across seven countries can tell us about the skills employers seek when recruiting engineering professionals.

We’ll look beyond individual job advertisements to challenge common assumptions, separate perception from evidence, and discuss the practical insights engineering professionals can apply when considering their own professional development.

Her work focuses on identifying opportunities and trends that help bridge the gap between industry requirements and engineering education, enabling more informed business decisions and supporting the development of industry-relevant learning.
